Can I transfer the licence to a new PC?
Yes. It’s a Retail licence: once you’ve uninstalled it from or formatted your old computer, you can activate Windows 10 Pro for Workstations on the new one. The licence can only be active on one PC at a time.
Windows is already installed: do I need to reinstall it?
No. If Windows 10 is already installed on your PC, just enter the product key in Settings → Update & Security → Activation. If you have a lower edition (Home, for example), Windows automatically switches to the Pro edition without formatting and without losing your data. If you’re starting from a new PC or want a clean install, you’ll find the official download link in your email.
Does Windows 10 still receive updates?
Windows 10 reached end of support on 14 October 2025: the system still installs, activates and works normally, but Microsoft no longer releases free security updates (the paid ESU programme is available). It’s the right choice for PCs that aren’t compatible with Windows 11 or when you need maximum compatibility with existing software and peripherals.
