Nero Platinum Suite: What’s Included and How to Burn Discs on Windows 11

Can Windows 11 burn discs? Yes, but not much
Windows 11 can copy files to a disc and burn an ISO image (right-click the file → Show more options → Burn disc image). But it can’t:
- create video DVDs or Blu-rays with menus that play on your living-room player;
- copy one disc to another;
- create audio CDs or MP3 CDs with full control over tracks and pauses;
- verify the disc after burning or protect it with a password.
How to burn with Nero on Windows 11
Data disc: step-by-step guide
Follow the steps with the Next button. The screens are simplified: names may differ slightly depending on your Nero version.
Open Nero Express
Insert a blank CD, DVD or Blu-ray and open Nero Express. The categories are on the left: to save files and folders, choose Data.
Click Data, then Data Disc
Add files and folders
Click Add and choose the files to burn. The bar at the bottom shows how much space is left on the disc.
Click Add, then Next
Turn on verification and burn
Give the disc a name and turn on Verify data on disc after burning: Nero checks that every file was copied correctly.
Tick the verify option and click Burn
Wait until it’s done
Burning and verification take a few minutes. When they’re finished, Nero ejects the disc and it’s ready.
Don’t use the burner until “Completed” appears
Audio CD for your car stereo
- In Nero Express choose the Music section and then Audio CD.
- Add your tracks (MP3, FLAC, WAV): Nero converts them by itself.
- Burn: the CD plays in any CD player and car stereo.
Burning an ISO image
- Open Nero Burning ROM.
- Close the new project window, open the Recorder menu, choose Burn Image and select the ISO file.
- Choose the speed (a medium speed reduces errors) and click Burn.
Video DVD to watch on TV
- Open Nero Video and choose to create a DVD-Video (or a Blu-ray).
- Import your videos, pick a menu template and customize it.
- Click Burn: the disc plays on any DVD or Blu-ray player.
No disc burner in your PC?
Almost no modern laptop has a disc drive any more: all you need is an external USB burner, which Windows 11 and Nero recognize right away. And even without a burner, the suite is still useful for editing video, enhancing photos with AI, converting files and making backups.
